1. Agreement to Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Atlas Budgeting (“App,” “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Atlas Budgeting (“we,” “our,” or “us”).

2. Description of Service

Atlas Budgeting is a personal finance application that helps you:

  • Track spending and manage budgets with a 50/30/20 framework.
  • Detect and organize recurring subscriptions and free trials through optional bank account and Gmail connections (read-only).
  • Receive notifications about upcoming charges, trial expirations, and price changes.
  • Analyze subscription spending and identify potential savings (“zombie subscriptions”).
  • Access premium features including AI-powered recommendations and advanced analytics (via subscription).

Atlas Budgeting is a financial management tool, not a financial advisor. The insights and recommendations provided by the App are for informational purposes only and should not be construed as financial, investment, tax, or legal advice.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Atlas Budgeting. By using the App, you represent and warrant that you are at least 13 years of age. If you are under 18, you represent that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.

4. Account Registration

  • You must create an account to use Atlas Budgeting.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information and to keep it updated.
  • You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to:

  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion of the App or its related systems.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the App.
  • Use the App to transmit spam, malware, or harmful content.
  • Sell, resell, or commercially exploit the App without our written permission.
  • Create multiple accounts to circumvent limitations or bans.
  • Misrepresent your identity or affiliation with any person or organization.

6. Third-Party Integrations

6.1 Gmail (Google)

Atlas Budgeting may request read-only access to your Gmail account to detect subscription-related emails. By connecting your Gmail account, you authorize Atlas Budgeting to access emails from known subscription senders only. This access is governed by Google’s Terms of Service and our use of Google API data adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. You can revoke access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

6.2 Plaid (Bank Connection)

Atlas Budgeting uses Plaid to provide bank account linking. By connecting your bank account, you agree to Plaid’s End User Privacy Policy. Atlas Budgeting receives only read-only transaction data - we cannot initiate transfers or access your full account credentials.

6.3 Anthropic (Claude AI)

Atlas Budgeting uses Anthropic’s Claude AI to help parse subscription information from email metadata. Only limited subscription-related data (sender name, subject line, billing excerpts) is sent for AI processing. No full email content is shared. Anthropic does not retain user data for training purposes. See Anthropic’s Privacy Policy for details.

6.4 App Store

In-app purchases are processed by Apple (App Store). Apple’s Terms of Service and refund policies apply. Atlas Budgeting has no control over purchase processing or refunds handled by Apple.

7. Subscription & Billing (Premium Features)

Atlas Budgeting offers free and premium tiers. Free accounts have access to basic subscription tracking and budgeting features. Premium features (AI-powered recommendations, advanced analytics, unlimited account connections) require an active subscription.

  • Premium subscriptions are billed through your App Store account at the rates displayed at the time of purchase.
  • Free trials, if offered, begin on the date you start the trial. You will be automatically charged unless you cancel before the trial ends.
  • You may cancel at any time through your App Store account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
  • We do not issue refunds for unused portions of a subscription period, except as required by applicable law or App Store refund policies.
  • We may change subscription prices with reasonable notice. If you do not agree to a price change, you must cancel before it takes effect.

8. Intellectual Property

All content, features, and functionality of the App - including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, icons, images, and software - are owned by Atlas Budgeting and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes.

9. Financial Information Disclaimer

Atlas Budgeting provides budgeting tools, subscription tracking, and spending analysis for informational purposes only. The App is not a financial advisor and does not provide financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. Any recommendations (e.g., “cancel unused subscriptions,” “switch to annual billing”) are suggestions based on your data and should not be relied upon as professional financial guidance.

Always verify subscription details directly with your service providers. Atlas Budgeting is not responsible for inaccuracies in data sourced from third-party connections.

10. Disclaimers

THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE, OR THAT ANY ERRORS WILL BE CORRECTED.

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, ATLAS BUDGETING SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE APP.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE APP SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR $10 USD, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Atlas Budgeting and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in connection with your use of the App or violation of these Terms.

13. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account at our sole discretion, without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, us, or third parties. Upon termination, your right to use the App immediately ceases. You may delete your account at any time through the App’s Settings. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including intellectual property rights, disclaimers, and limitations of liability.

14. Governing Law & Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the American Arbitration Association’s Consumer Arbitration Rules, rather than in court, except that either party may seek injunctive relief for intellectual property infringement.

CLASS ACTION WAIVER: You agree that any arbitration or legal proceeding shall be conducted only on an individual basis and not as a class, consolidated, or representative action.

15. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, sending a push notification or email. Your continued use of the App after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
